Please be advised that maintenance works to repair a section of the seawall that suffered storm damage are due to take place w/c 5 October at 10 Gun Battery (the seawall next to the Square Tower). A map of the location is below. The repairs are expected to take 3-4 weeks.

The main works are scheduled to begin on Monday 12 October, with everything completed by Friday 6 November. During this time, a section of promenade will be closed due to installation of safety fencing, however the promenade will remain open to the public.

w/c 5 October: A small compound will be established on top of Saluting Platform next to the seating area. This will be used to store a welfare unit and materials for the repair.

w/c 12 October: Access scaffolding will be installed on top of and down the front face of the seawall to enable safe access to the repair area. A safe working area will be established by placing Heras fencing from the Saluting Platform and along the promenade to the location of the scaffolding on the seawall.

High spring tides are forecast this week, which might cause disruption to the scaffold installation and therefore the date may be pushed back by one week.

w/c 19 October: Repair to the damaged areas will commence.

w/c 2 November: Scaffolding, fencing and compound area will be removed from site and the promenade fully reopened.

Also to note: We will be fencing off an area of Castle Field in w/c 12 October in order to create a refuge for Brent Geese. This will be up until the end of March 2021.
