This month sees the launch of a regulated, regional trial of rental e-scooters in Portsmouth. Before the trail gets underway, PCC would like to know your opinion on the use of e-scooters. Your views will help them to understand public opinion before and during the trial and this information will help the Department for Transport to investigate the future for this new way of travelling.
People who take part in the trial must be aged 18 or over and hold a valid driving licence to legally use the rental e-scooters. Riders will be required to take part in training before use. During the training it will be made clear that the e-scooters can only legally be used on roads and in locations where bicycles can be ridden. Privately-owned e-scooters will remain illegal except on private land.
